Why trust a site that hasn’t tested anything?
Because we don’t pretend otherwise. Every cast iron roundup online says it “tested twenty skillets.” Most didn’t, and can’t prove they did. Here is what we do instead — and all of it is checkable.
We compare the published specs
Every pick is reasoned from the maker's own numbers — weight, capacity, cooking surface, oven-safe temperature, warranty — not from a claim we can't back up.
We model the ten-year cost
A $25 Lodge and a $300 Le Creuset both last a lifetime. We put the real cost-per-year side by side so the price tag isn't the whole story.
“Not published” is a finding
When a brand won't state a pan's weight or warranty, we print “Not published” rather than guessing. What a maker leaves out is information too.
Prices are live and dated
Numbers come from a daily retailer check and carry the date they were pulled. If the check stops, the price disappears rather than going stale.
We say when to keep your pan
The honest answer is often “you already own the right skillet.” Where a cheaper option wins for the buyer, that's our pick — commission never decides it.
No fake reviews, ever
There are no invented testimonials, star ratings or “in our testing” claims anywhere on this site. If we can't source it, it isn't here.
